Fundraising for the Fight against COVID-19

ROUND 1-PURCHASING SUPPLIES FOR CHINESE HOSPITALS

The novel strain of Coronavirus (officially SARS-COV-2, previously 2019-nCoV according to WHO) has already spread from Wuhan to all over China as well as parts of Japan and Singapore in the past few weeks. As this contagion spreads, medical staff in China are struggling to stand still in the fight against it; many hospitals are severely understaffed and short on medical supplies including medical face masks, protective goggles, and protective clothing. The shortage of these supplies means that doctors and nurses have to treat their patients, unprotected by highly necessary gear. This is an international humanitarian concern that deserves global attention and aid. Many hospitals in China are calling out directly to the PUBLIC for help. As Chinese students studying overseas, those facts are still painfully close to us. We cannot, however, fight this crisis without your help! We are reaching out to our community by starting this fundraiser, to contribute as much as possible, in order to procure medical supplies and to ship these directly and efficiently to these hospitals, along with providing necessary help for invisible individuals, including local people who are troubled by mental issues but are missing their medication.

WHAT HAVE

WE ACHIEVED

We organized a fundraiser among the students, faculty, and staff at different schools, by means of GoFundMe or in accordance with the need of the school administration.

After the fundraiser, we immediately used the revenues to purchase supplies including disinfectants and protective gears, according to the specifications from the hospitals that we reach out to.

The supplies were transported directly to hospitals, including Wuhan Union Hospital, Yichang No.1 People's Hospital, Huanggang Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Xishui People’s Hospital (all are hospitals designated by the Chinese Government to treat patients infected by 2019-nCoV) and more. Meanwhile, we cooperated with Hubei Charity Federation (HBCF) to transported the supplies safely.
